Welcome!

Welcome to our blog! We hope to keep our friends and families up to date with what is going on in our lives. So much will change now that we have a new addition to our family! Alexander Mark Ballard was born on May 17, 2008 at 3:10 p.m. He weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces and was 20 inches long. The day after he was born, it was discovered that he had some heart complications. He underwent surgery on May 22 to repair coarctation in the aorta and patent ductus arteriosis (PDA). I hope I got the names correct. Mark is much more versed on these things than I am. The surgery went very well. He recovered for 5 days in the pediactric ICU and we brought him home on May 27, 2008. We were exhausted from the whole thing, but so grateful to bring him home. We have had tremendous support from our friends, family, and church family. The heavens were thundered with prayers for him and us and we are so thankful! Now the adventure begins....
